Invitation to collaborate on the Improving Building materials by Employing Advanced Manufacturing (IBEAM) roadmap
The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) is submitting a grant proposal to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)’s Manufacturing USA Technology Roadmap Grant Program, which is seeking to fund eight technology roadmaps for promising advanced manufacturing clusters. The grants aim is to establish new or strengthen existing industry-driven consortia that address high-priority research challenges to grow advanced manufacturing in the U.S. AIChE has decided to focus its proposal on the building materials industries.
They have observed that the building materials industries (timber, lumber, sheeting materials, concrete, asphalt, insulation materials, glass, etc.) have not received much focus when it comes to advanced manufacturing, and, they believe, these industries could benefit greatly from such technologies. Therefore, they are proposing the development of the IBEAM (Improving Building materials by Employing Advanced Manufacturing) roadmap.
