Journal Submissions
The Publication Process
Submitted manuscripts are evaluated by the Editor for suitability and compliance with author instructions. Manuscripts failing to meet guidelines will be returned to author(s) for additional development. Submissions are through the online manuscript management system at: http://biobus.dev.swst.org/index.php/bpbj/login/. The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party. After submission, authors will receive an automated notice from the online system. All revision processes are managed through the same system.
If appropriate, the Editor will initiate a double blind review process that includes one member of the Editorial Board and two reviewers deemed technically capable of such review. Reviewers’ recommendations comprise the basis for the Editor’s decision to accept or reject a manuscript, however, the final decision for acceptance lies solely with the Editor.
The review process will be conducted in a spirit of collegiality and fairness with an aim towards improving manuscripts. However, this will be balanced with maintenance of high standards for acceptance.
Instruction for Authors
All submissions should include an explanation of how the manuscript meets the aims of the journal. Typically, submissions should not be longer than 30 double-spaced pages (one-inch margins, Times New Roman 11-point font) including all figures, tables, references etc. Formatting will follow APA style. Authors speaking English as a second language should have their manuscripts edited by a native English speaker prior to submission. Submission should be made through the online platform – http://biobus.dev.swst.org/index.php/bpbj/login/.

Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission’s compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text is double-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- All lines within the document should be numbered.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
- If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
Formatting
- All manuscripts should have a title page containing title, authors’ names and affiliations, and contact information for corresponding author.
- Manuscripts should be submitted as a separate file from the title page. It is important to ensure that author/s or their affiliations are not identified in this file in any form. This file should include an abstract (not more than 200 words), 3-5 keywords, main body with Tables, Figures, and References (Tables and Figures should be included in Main body), and acknowledgements.
- Headings: 1st level, centered, capitalize each word, bold; 2nd level, left justified, capitalize each word, bold; 3rd level, indented from left margin, capitalize each word, bold, italics.
- All text (including the title page) should be double spaced and in 12 point font (for example, Times New Roman), with line numbering enabled.
- There are no length restrictions, but typically a manuscript should not be longer than 35 pages including references, tables, and figures.
- All tables should be created with the Word table function and have editable text.
- Type author-date citations as regular text (do not insert citations automatically or link them to an automatic reference list or bibliography).
- References: The format and style of written works for publication should normally follow the guidelines of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, but with exceptions as noted here.
Corrections and Retractions
Concerns over published content should be addressed to the editor. Corrections will be published for any substantive errors, linked to the original article. Corrections can be for errors made by the journal or the author(s). In the event that an error is sufficiently severe to warrant full retraction, the original article will remain available, linked to a statement explaining the retraction.
